Hannah Blythyn MS has welcomed new Pride in Place Impact Fund investment set to support town centres across Flintshire, helping deliver visible improvements to high streets, community spaces and local facilities.
The funding will support projects aimed at revitalising high streets, enhancing public spaces and strengthening community assets, helping create welcoming environments that encourage economic activity and community pride.
Welcoming the investment, Hannah Blythyn MS said:
“I’ve long been a champion of our town centres, they’re more than just places to shop, they matter to all of us and are at the heart of our communities. Growing up in a small town and living in one today, I know how important it is that our high streets are able to thrive, not just survive.
“This funding is really positive news and will help support local businesses, improve public spaces and make our town centres even more welcoming places for residents and visitors alike.”
Hannah Blythyn highlighted her continued work supporting local businesses across the constituency, including bringing organisations together to strengthen support networks.
She recently hosted the second successful meeting of Holywell town businesses at Holywell Town FC, bringing together local traders alongside PCSOs, Business Wales, Mind the Gap and the Development Bank of Wales to discuss challenges facing businesses and identify opportunities for collaboration and provide advice.
Hannah Blythyn MS added:
“Supporting our local businesses isn’t just about funding, it’s about working together and making sure businesses know where to turn for help. By bringing partners together locally, we can tackle issues collaboratively and ensure our town centres remain vibrant places to live, work and visit.
“I will continue championing investment into our high streets and working with local businesses and organisations to make sure our communities get the support they deserve.”
The Pride in Place Impact Fund aims to deliver improvements to community facilities, public spaces and town centre environments, helping local authorities deliver projects that strengthen communities and encourage economic growth.
A key part of the investment will see approximately £460,000 allocated towards a town centre shopfront grant scheme across Flintshire, alongside additional private investment from local businesses.
The scheme will support traders to improve the appearance and functionality of their premises. Businesses interested in learning more about available support can find further information via Flintshire County Council’s town centre regeneration grants page: https://www.flintshire.gov.uk/en/Business/Town-Centre-Regeneration/Grants-and-Funding.aspx.
Investment will also support important community facilities in both Holywell and Mold, with refurbishment works to public toilet facilities valued at approximately £70,000 in Holywell and £30,000 in Mold.
