After an extremely challenging academic year, the school summer holidays have now begun giving teachers and other school staff the opportunity to take some time to themselves and to prepare for the year ahead. I want to give my thanks to those who have continued to adapt as the coronavirus continued to present challenges, and I hope that all our children and their families enjoy the summer too, as they too have been impacted by the pandemic.

Throughout this summer and school holidays up until Easter 2022, Flintshire County Council will continue to provide free school meals to those families who are eligible for them. Over 20% of pupils here in Flintshire are eligible for this support and I would encourage families who are struggling to check if they could receive support too. The Welsh Government is currently reviewing the eligibility criteria so that as many families as possible are able to receive the support that they need.

Over the holidays I’ll be visiting play schemes across our communities, which are there to ensure that children have plenty of activities to get involved in, and to support families. I’ll be sharing information about some of the different schemes on my Facebook page – Hannah Blythyn MS – but please get in touch if you’d like to know more about any schemes.

A few weeks ago I shared with Leader readers my plans to run a transport survey over the coming months, to listen to the experiences of our transport network and to help shape plans for future improvements. This Thursday I will be out and about with my team in Holywell Town Centre with the survey, speaking to residents so that I can capture their views and am planning more sessions over the coming weeks.

In addition to hard copy surveys, my survey is also now live on my website – www.hannahblythyn.cymru/transport-survey and has specific questions covering different parts of the constituency. Any experiences and views you could share would be greatly appreciated. The more voices that are heard, the better we can continue to make the case for further investment in our transport infrastructure.

If you have any questions or would like to raise specific concerns about the transport network in our corner of the country, in addition to the survey, please get in touch at Hannah.Blythyn@senedd.wales or call 01352 762102.

Earlier this week I asked residents across the constituency to share their favourite scenes of Delyn with me. We have so much natural beauty on our doorstep and I want to do all I can to share our beautiful scenic views with others. I will then choose an image which will feature as my Facebook cover photo throughout August. If you or a loved one has an image you’d like to share please email it to me before Wednesday 28 July.
