As we approach the festive period, it’s time to announce the winner of my 2024 Christmas card competition, which gives students from primary schools across the Delyn constituency the chance to show off their artistic talents. This year, I asked the students to design a Christmas card on the theme of ‘celebrating peace and tolerance’.
The overall winner this year is Hallie Roberts, aged seven, who goes to Ysgol Croes Atti in Flint, who received a framed copy of her design – llongyfarchiadau Hallie! Other winners from each school also received a framed copy of their design as well as a chocolate Santa. Hallie’s winning design will be used to create my Christmas cards this year and will be sent to residents, businesses and organisations across the constituency.
The competition was sponsored by Nice-Pak International in Flint, who also provided the chocolate Santas, and framed designs were provided by PG Framing Ltd in Mold. The eight schools which took part were Ysgol Croes Atti, Ysgol Merllyn, Ysgol Bryn Gwalia, Ysgol Y Waun, Ysgol Maes Y Felin, Ysgol Rhos Helyg, Gwernymynydd CP School and Ysgol Pen Coch.
I love to see the different designs the students come up with and Hallie’s wonderful design incorporated not only the ‘heddwch ar y ddaear’ message but a dove as well – but all the designs this year were excellent so it was difficult to choose!
My thanks to all the children who entered the competition and all the staff at the schools who made it happen, and to Nice-Pak International and PG Framing Ltd for their support.
